Carmen Wright-Thrive Coach

Meet Carmen Wright! Carmen Wright is a Birmingham, Alabama native and proud alumna of Alabama A&M University, where she served as the 66th Miss Alabama A&M University. She has been part of the ELI Thrive team since 2023 and works closely with individuals and families to support goals related to economic stability, workforce development, housing, and healthy relationships, as well as through the Birmingham Community Incubator.

Carmen is currently pursuing her PhD in Social Work, with research centered on strengthening outcomes for families and communities. She is deeply passionate about community-centered work and believes in meeting people where they are while helping them build sustainable pathways forward. Serving the Birmingham community she calls home is both her joy and calling.

Outside of work, Carmen enjoys spending time with her family and her energetic Mini Goldendoodle, Coi. On a good hair day, she’s been told her celebrity doppelgänger might be Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child—and she’ll happily take the compliment.

“Learning about what we do for the community just made me want to give back to the city of Birmingham more and serve the families to the best of my ability.”
