Birmingham Community Incubator, a collaboration between the Salvation Army, AL Extension at Alabama A&M, ELI will start its 4th cohort beginning July 10th.
Locally owned start-up businesses will be chosen to participate in the 6-week business boot camp. These entrepreneurs will be taught how to effectively use the "Business Model Canvas" to organize their businesses. How to properly formalize their business, understand license and permit requirements, sign up for and maintain their "My Alabama Tax - MAT" accounts, develop banking and lending relationships, and understand business insurance requirements through our "Filing for Success" series.
Throughout the program, they will also have access to local partners that specialize in lending, technology, and business coaching. This year we are also very proud to announce we will be able to offer “Wrap-Around Services” for our selected participants. These include gas cards, utility assistance, food market, and child care stipends. The program will culminate with each business preparing a working budget, marketing strategy, and business plan in hopes of being awarded one of the multiple $1000 grants and additional business support services provided by BCI and our partners.
