The Birmingham Community Incubator (BCI), a collaboration between the Salvation Army, AL Extension at Alabama A&M, and ELI, is excited to announce the start of its 8th cohort beginning August 22nd. This 6-week business boot camp is designed to help locally owned start-up businesses flourish.
Selected entrepreneurs will learn how to:
Effectively use the "Business Model Canvas" to organize their business.
Properly formalize their business and understand license and permit requirements.
Sign up for and maintain their "My Alabama Tax - MAT" accounts.
Develop banking and lending relationships.
Understand business insurance requirements through our "Filing for Success" series.
Throughout the program, participants will have access to local partners specializing in lending, technology, and business coaching. The program will culminate with each business preparing a working budget, marketing strategy, and business plan. Multiple $1000 grants and additional business support services provided by BCI and our partners will be awarded.

Orientation: August 29
Business Building Blocks: September 3, 5, 10, 12
Filing for Success: September 17, 19, 24, 26
Business Bookkeeping 101: October 1
Marketing & Social Media: October 3
Graduation: October 17
Post-Graduate Program: Starts October 22
