Shalanda Cheatham-Thrive Coach
Meet Shalanda! Born and raised in Fairfield, Alabama—once proudly known as the Steel City of the South—Shalanda is an educator, community advocate, and resource specialist with a heart for service and impact. With more than 15 years of experience in education, government, and the nonprofit world, she’s built a career helping people access opportunities, navigate challenges, and reach their full potential.
Shalanda earned her Master’s in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Miles College. She’s deeply passionate about equity, second chances, and community healing—championing resources for students, families, and returning citizens alike. What inspires her most about her work is witnessing transformation: seeing someone move from uncertainty to confidence, from need to stability, and from doubt to achievement. “I love seeing God’s plan revealed,” she says.
When she’s not working, you can probably find Shalanda relaxing at one of her favorite spots—Alabama’s beaches. From Gulf Shores to Orange Beach, she swears they’re some of the most beautiful, family-friendly shores anywhere—soft sand, fresh seafood, and peaceful sunsets included.
A proud coffee lover (with a newfound appreciation for Matcha), Shalanda is also an early bird who thrives on quiet mornings and fresh starts. Grounded by her Southern roots and driven by purpose, she believes true leadership begins with service—a belief that aligns perfectly with the mission of ELI Thrive.
